The postponement of highly anticipated film Padmavati is definitely not a good news for Bollywood. So far in this year, only few Hindi films have got succeed to receive good reviews and box office numbers. Under such circumstances, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus was obviously a big hope for the entire industry in 2017.
Presented by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, Padmavati is based on the legend of Hindu Rajput queen Padmavati. Because of it’s content, the film is surrounded by number of controversies since when it went on floors. But now the fire has been raised higher and after numerous protests against the film, makers decided to go on back foot.
As per the report of renowned journalist Subhash K. Jha published on Bollywood Hungama, makers of Padmavati won’t announce it’s new release date until Gujarat elections. Apparently the instruction to hold the release until crucial elections, has come from the high command of ruling political party.
So now Padmavati doesn’t seem to release in December 2017, as Gujarat elections are scheduled to commence on December 9 till December 14. Talking about the calendar of 2018, then January looks a better & nearby month for the release of this epic period drama, because only one biggie i.e. Akshay Kumar’s Padman is being released in this.
Let see what Bhansali & team will decide, in the meanwhile they are planning to arrange special screenings for political leaders including Prime Minister as soon the CBFC certifies the film. After the cancellation of Padmavati release, all eyes & expectations are on Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai which is releasing on 22 December 2017.
