Twinkle Khanna’s Debut Production ‘Padman’ stars Akshay Kumar, Directed by R. Balki

Twinkle Khanna & R. Balki collaborated for an Interesting story, titled as Padman

Bold, witty & admirable writer Twinkle Khanna has turned film producer and announced her first venture on the very first day of 2017, titled as Padman. Based on an extraordinary true story, written-directed by the promising filmmaker R. Balki and starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor & Radhika Apte in lead roles. Not confirmed, but megastar Amitabh Bachchan is also supposed to play pivotal role in the movie.

The superstar himself tweeted about his upcoming movies in the new year, which include Jolly LLB 2, 2.0, Toilet Ek Prem Katha & Padman. Along with these, he has a cameo role in Taapsee Pannu’s Naam Shabana. The first two have already completed and the third one is under production these days. Reportedly the fourth one will go on floor soon. This is for the first time, when Akshay is collaborating with filmmaker R. Balki.

Padman is inspired by the true story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who decided to crack the process of making sanitary pads in order to sell them in cheaper and reasonable rates. The movie with unique story line, deals with the attempt of Muruganantham to improve hygienic conditions for women in his village who couldn’t afford high priced pads.

Initially Twinkle researched on the story and R. Balki decided to convert the concept into a movie ‘Padman’. Then both joined hands to produce it under the banners Mrs Funnybones Movies & KriArj Entertainment and signed superstar-in-home Akshay for the lead role.
