Salman Khan’s highly awaited movie of the year, Tubelight was released with great buzz but unfortunately got failed to light up the box office. The movie received mixed reviews from critics as well as viewers, and as a result it crashed down within an opening week.
Directed by Kabir Khan, Tubelight is the third collaboration of Salman Khan with him after blockbusters Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The latest one was earlier expected to shatter previous records but after the release, it is actually doesn’t seem to create any noticeable record.
Although it registered the second biggest opening of the year so far with 21.15 crores of business, but that too below expectations. Due to unfavorable reactions, it remained almost flat over the weekend and dropped abruptly in weekdays.
Tubelight did the business of 106.86 crores in the opening week, that included 64.77 crores of weekend and 42.09 crores of weekdays from 4350 screens. Now the movie is running in it’s second week and once again showed dull performance in this weekend.
In the second weekend, Salman Khan starrer managed to collect the amount of 8.25 crores with 2.15 crores on Friday, 2.80 crores on Saturday and 3.30 crores on Sunday. Then in weekdays, as expected it faced further decline.
With the drop of around 28% than last Friday, Tubelight fetched the collection of 1.15 crore on 2nd Monday and 0.95 crore on 2nd Tuesday. On the next day i.e. 2nd Wednesday, this war drama minted the amount of 0.75 crore and raised it’s 13 days total collection to 117.96 crores at domestic box office.
