[Total: 12 Average: 3.3]

The very much awaited Tamil movie of the year Kaala has been released at the box office a day earlier than scheduled i.e. June 7 amid a huge buzz of fans. As expected this action thriller has got a terrific start across the country but remained below than the earlier expectations.

Thala Rajinikanth, Nana Patekar & Huma Qureshi starrer Kaala has got succeed to receive positive reviews from the critics but unfortunately, the audience is giving mixed reactions. Also, it has reported a slow start at the US box office, which is quite a disappointment for fans.

Directed by Pa. Ranjith, Kaala is the second collaboration of superstar Rajini after 2016’s Kabali. Unlike the previous, this one hasn’t touched the magical numbers but as expected opened on a massive note due to a solid star power.

Across Tamil Nadu, Dhanush’ production recorded the maximum occupancy and raked the business of 15.40 crores nett from 600 screens, while Kabali did the opening business of 21.50 crores. From rest of the country, it collected the business of 10.50 crores and raised its first day domestic total to 25.50 crores nett including all the versions (Tamil, Telugu & Hindi).

From its Hindi version, Kaala has registered the business of only 0.95 crore domestically. Definitely, the movie is required to remain steady over the weekend to match the level of Thalaiva at the box office.

On the other hand, there is another much-awaited movie Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom has released same day amid a good hype of Indian audience in metro cities. Although it is not available in 3D across India and getting mixed reviews from the critics, which has played a spoilsport.

Sequel to the 2015’s Jurassic World, this sci-fi American offering opened on a decent note in India and minted the amount of 6 crores nett from English, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu screens, which is higher than the prequel (4.75 crores). Audience reactions for the movie are positive, so it is expected to grow over the weekend.
