Much awaited film of Punjabi cinema’s superstar Diljit Dosanjh, Super Singh has been released at box office on Friday with huge excitement of fans as well as Punjabi audience across the country. As expected this comedy adventure drama received overwhelmed response on it’s first day and registered record opening.

Singer cum actor Diljit Dosanjh has high fan following among audience in India as well as overseas. Also the entry in Bollywood, has broaden his reach. This is the reason, his films get good response at box office. No doubt, that the actor has played a key role in growing Punjabi cinema at global platform with his stardom.

On the opening day, Anurag Singh’s directorial first ever Punjabi superhero film Super Singh opened on an excellent note. It witnessed more than 70% of occupancy in Punjab and Delhi regions, while 40% in rest parts of India.

With such amazing response and occupancy, Diljit & Sonam Bajwa starrer Super Singh garnered the business of 1.80 crore from around 350 screens in India. With this, it has emerged as the 5th biggest opener ever in Punjabi cinema after Diljit’s own Ambarsariya (2.10 crores).

While on the other hand, among several Hindi offerings only one has received considerable response i.e. Bank Chor. Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Rhea Chakraborty starrer this comic caper created good buzz on social media with it’s unique marketing campaign. But unfortunately got failed to attract audience toward theaters.

Bumpy’s directorial Bank Chor started with dull occupancy of only 5-10% for morning shows and received almost negative reviews from critics. As a result it remained dull throughout the opening day and minted the amount of only 1.40 crore from 700 screens nationwide.
