After the blockbusters Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, superstar Salman Khan and director Kabir Khan are once again back with another emotional potboiler, titled as Tubelight. Like previous ones, this has also been released with enormous excitement among fans as well as moviegoers across the country and reported phenomenal opening.
As expected the film has started the journey at box office on a tremendous note and getting overwhelmed response from audience. Although some critics have not reacted in favor but against the solid star power of Salman, their negative reviews do not seem to impact it’s performance much.
On the opening day, Tubelight recorded 30-35% of occupancy for morning shows in India, while in north alone it opened up with 45-50%. Multiplexes across the country witnessed good growth from evening shows and garnered the impressive business of 21.15 crores from 4350 screens pre Eid.
With this, Tubelight has emerged as the highest opener of the year in Bollywood so far (excluding Baahubali 2), followed by Raees (20.42 crores). Also it has registered the seventh highest opening of Salman Khan‘s career and 18th highest opening of all time in Bollywood followed by Dabangg 2 (21.10 crores).
Most of the audience liked the film and showing big thumbs up. Their positive reactions have generated positive word of mouth for Tubelight, which attracts more audience toward theaters. After such response, it positively seems to take growth over the weekend and Monday (Eid) ofcourse.
Set in 1962 during Sino-Indian war, Tubelight stars Salman Khan in lead role, along with Sohail Khan, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and late veteran actor Om Puri in crucial supporting roles.
