Superstar Akshay Kumar’s recently released much-anticipated film Padman is running decently at the box office though, but the fact cannot be denied, that its performance is being affected by two weeks back released epic period drama. The opposite one still has a good hold over the audience and heading steadily.

Padman fifth day box office collection

Padman is inspired by the real life of Tamil Nadu based social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham who made low-cost sanitary pads for the women of rural India. As expected the film has impressed everyone and gained positive word of mouth but the footfalls are not very impressive.

On the first day, Akshay-Sonam-Radhika starrer opened to a decent note and registered 2nd highest opening of 2018 so far in Hindi cinema. By showing good growth over the weekend, it did the business of 40.05 crores, that included 10.26 crores of Friday, 13.68 crores of Saturday and 16.11 crores of Sunday from 2750 screens nationwide.

Now, this debut production of writer turned producer Twinkle Khanna is running in weekdays and minted the amount of 5.87 crores on Monday with a drop of around 43% than Friday. On the next day, Padman reported some jump due to Maha Shivaratri holiday and raked the business of 6.45 crores.

With this, the total collection of the film after 5 days, has become 52.37 crores at the domestic box office. To achieve the expected lifetime total, it has to remain steady throughout this week and show a considerable jump in its second weekend.

Directed by R.Balki, Padman is based on a taboo topic- menstrual hygiene. Of course, it has a strong social message but the entertainment level is not that good as Akshay’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, this is why the film is witnessing problem to break the spell of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat.
