Superstar Salman Khan’s highly awaited film Tubelight was released last Friday with huge excitement of fans as well as moviegoers. But unfortunately it got lesser response than expected at box office and completed the opening week on an average note, as compare to his enormous stardom.
Although Tubelight received favorable reviews from fans, but most of the critics and viewers have found it disappointing. Also being released pre Eid, it recorded lower footfalls in theaters and remained almost flat over the weekend at domestic box office.
After registering second highest opening of the year so far in Hindi cinema with 21.15 crores, this war drama got failed to take jump on Saturday and minted the amount of 21.17 crores. Then on Sunday with little growth, the film managed to garner 22.45 crores and raised it’s opening weekend total to 64.77 crores.
After the under-performed weekend, Tubelight was expected to take good jump on Monday due to Eid. But instead of showing growth, it got dropped and raked the business of 19.09 crores. With further falls in the business graph, it fetched the business of 12 crores on Tuesday and 6.50 crores on Wednesday.
On the last day of week i.e. Thursday, Kabir Khan’s directorial witnessed more dip and bagged the amount of 4.50 crores. With this, one week total collection of Tubelight has become 106.86 crores from 4350 screens across the country.
From the new week, Salman Khan starrer will have the fifth installment of very popular American Sci-Fi franchise Transformers, in opposite. Transformers: The Last Knight is buzzing among Indian audience on a good note and expected to give strong competition to Tubelight in metro cities of India.
