Despite several new Hindi offerings, superstar Akshay Kumar’s last week released Toilet Ek Prem Katha is ruling at box office in the second week as well. Due to strong word of mouth, this satirical romantic drama is still has complete hold over the audience across the country.
Inspired by the true incidents and endorsing prime minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, Toilet Ek Prem Katha is being liked by everyone. With it’s solid content and brilliant performances given by the entire cast, the movie has received very positive reviews from most of the critics.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, TEPK offers entertainment with a relevant social message, that makes it a long race horse. In the opening weekend, it started on a good-enough note and did the business of 51.45 crores with impressive growth over Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend total was included 13.10 crores of Friday, 17.10 crores of Saturday and 21.25 crores of Sunday. Then in weekdays as well, the movie remained strong due to holidays and minted 12 crores on Monday, 20 crores on Tuesday, 6.50 crores on Wednesday and 6.10 crores on Thursday.
After a week, total collection of Toilet Ek Prem Katha was recorded as 96.05 crores from around 3000 screens nationwide. Now once again it is in weekend and dominating all the newly released movies. On 2nd Friday, it scored 4 crores with 34.5% of drop than previous day.
On the next day i.e. 2nd Saturday, TEPK witnessed more than 68% of jump than Friday and garnered the business of 6.75 crores. With this, Toilet Ek Prem Katha has raised it’s 9 days total collection to 106.80 crores and emerged as year’s 6th highest grossing movie so far by surpassing Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil (103.83 crores).
