Azhar Crosses 20 Cr in its Opening Weekend
Biopic of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, Tony Dsouza’s directorial ‘Azhar’ has completed its opening weekend journey on a decent note. The movie has been released with good expectations and buzz among audience but hasn’t received much response in theaters as everyone was expecting earlier. Most of the critics have reviewed it with positive words, still the outcome is only decent.
Emraan Hashmi who has played the title role undoubtedly well in Azhar, is looking for a hit from last 3 years. With the movie, he also had high expectations but unfortunately it hasn’t come out that well till yet. On the first day, it started the day with decent occupancy but didn’t received well from night shows and recorded the opening business of only 6.30 cr.
Whereas from UAE-GCC, Azhar raked the highest ever opening business of Emraan Hashmi’s career with the amount of AED 0.4 million i.e. 72.72 lacs. On the next day at domestic box office, being Saturday it witnessed little higher and showed decent growth in its business. The movie had minted the amount of 7 cr on its second and made its 2 days total as 13.30 cr.
Then on the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, being holiday Azhar reported little more rise in its business graph and added the amount of 7.50 cr to its account. After a weekend, total collection of the movie is recorded as 20.80 cr across the country. Azhar has only this week to earn as much as it can, because from next week another anticipated biopic Sarbjit and latest installment of Hollywood’s very popular superhero franchise X-Men are being released.
