After a decent opening weekend, Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari starrer Blackmail got dropped abruptly due to IPL 2018 and the strong run of last week’s Baaghi 2. But still, it is managing to remain steady at a low note because of positive reactions by the audience as well as the critics.
Directed by the Delhi Belly Abhinay Deo, Blackmail is a dark comedy which has got succeed to entertain the viewers with its engaging and thrilling story-line. Also, the brilliant performance by the lead actor Irrfan, has added more power to it and helped it to gain positive word of mouth.
With decent star power and non-masala genre, Irrfan-Abhinay’s collaboration took a slow start but picked up well over the weekend and raked the business of 11.22 crores, that included 2.81 crores of Friday, 3.85 crores of Saturday and 4.56 crores of Sunday from 1550 screens across the country.
Now Blackmail is running on weekdays and as usual, faced an abrupt drop in footfalls due to normal working days. On Monday, it did the business of 1.68 crores after a decline of approx. 40% than Friday. Then on Tuesday with a slightly more drop, the movie reported the business of 1.52 crores.
On the next day i.e. Wednesday, T-Series and RDP Motion Pictures’ joint production got dropped further and collected the amount of 1.34 crores and raised its 6 days total collection to 15.76 crores at the domestic box office. As per current trend, Blackmail is likely to rake around 16.75 crores by this week.
