Expected Opening of Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon
Director Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest offering Rangoon is all set to hit theaters this Friday on around 1800 screens across the country under the banners, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, VB Pictures and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. This is a period romantic drama set in 1944 during the second world war, starring Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles.
Being a period drama, the movie doesn’t attract masses but has advantage of getting released solo. So as there is no other fresh offering in competition, then Rangoon has possible chance to witness decent footfalls in multiplexes. Single screens are not expected to contribute much, Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 still has good hold there.
Talking about the star power of Rangoon, then it acquires an average position. Although all the stars are known for their acting skills and have good fan following, but they have limited number of hits in their career so far. Ultimately, the fate of this offering is depended on the reactions of audience as well as critics.
Some critics who attended the special screening of Rangoon, have commented positive about the movie. With open heart, they have praised the performances of lead stars, also appreciated the direction of Vishal Bhardwaj. Let see how the audience and other critics will react after watching it.
As per the report, Rangoon reported an average advance booking in India and expected to receive around 40-45% of occupancy on the opening day, with which it can take the decent opening of 6.50-7.50 crores domestically. The business graph will rise over the weekend, if the movie gets positive response from viewers.
