Box Office: Rustom 9th Day Collection, Crosses Total 100 Crores Net in India

Superstar Akshay Kumar’s recent offering, the thriller drama Rustom is enjoying tremendous run on box office become the fourth movie of the year so far to enter in 100 crore club in just 9 days of release after Airlift, Housefull 3 & Sultan. He has hit the hat-trick of three consecutive hits with more than 100 crores of business in these 8 months of year 2016.

Being the much awaited collaboration of ace thriller movies maker Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar, Rustom has been released with huge buzz and expectations of fans as well as audience. As expected it received positive reviews from everyone including critics and moviegoers. Some critics are not satisfied with the movie but still it is getting superb response in theaters despite new releases.

In the opening week, Tinu Suresh Desai’s directorial Rustom reported excellent occupancy and did the business of 90.90 crores, including 50.42 crores of weekend and 40.48 crores of weekdays. It successfully cashed the weekend and public holidays of Independence Day & Raksha Bandhan.

Now the movie is running in its second weekend and despite new Hindi release Happy Bhag Jayegi, it keep heading with strong hold over audience. On Friday, it witnessed 50% of drop than previous day and raked the business of 4.41 crores. Then on Saturday, being weekend and due to positive word of mouth, Rustom showed decent growth of 31% in its business and added 5.77 crores to its account.

With this, total 9 days collection of the movie has become 101.08 crores on domestic box office. Rustom has now emerged as the 6th movie of Akshay Kumar and 46th of Bollywood to enter in 100 crore club. Akshay is now at the second position; parallel to Shahrukh Khan (6) with second maximum number of movies in this club after Salman Khan (10).
