Aamir Khan’s Dangal Releases on 5300 Screens Worldwide
Superstar Aamir Khan’s sports biopic Dangal is all set to hit screens this Friday on 23rd of December on a grand note. The movie is being released on 5300 screens worldwide, that includes 4300 screens of India and rest 1000 of overseas. Presented by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it has emerged as the widest Indian release in North America, UAE-GCC, United Kingdom and Australia.
Dangal is one of the most awaited movies of the year and has enormous hype among audience across the country as well as overseas. The movie has reported strong advance booking and is positively expected to witnessed around 80% of occupancy on the opening day. With such great buzz and wide number screens, it won’t be difficult for Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial to register atleast second highest opening of the year after Salman Khan’s Sultan (36.54 crores).
Dangal has a production cost of 70 crores and its makers have sold the satellite rights to Zee Network at whopping cost of 75 crores. This means, Aamir Khan starrer has already reserved its profit before the release. Reportedly, the deal has locked at 55 crores and the rest payment of 20 crores will be made after the 100 crore business of the movie at domestic box office. Whereas Yash Raj Films was sold the satellite rights of year’s highest grosser so far, Sultan to Sony Network at 55 crores.
Based on the life of former wrestling champion Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two daughters Geeta Phogat & Babita Kumari, Dangal is an inspirational drama movie. Along with Aamir as Mahavir, it features Sakshi Tanwar as Daya Sobha Kaur w/o Mahavir, Fatima Sana Saikh as Geeta and Sanya Malhotra as Babita. Produced by Aamir Khan himself, Kiran Rao and Siddharth Roy Kapur under the banners Aamir Khan Productions, Walt Disney Pictures & UTV Motion Pictures.
