Gold 5th Day Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar’s Film Shows Solid Growth on Sunday

The latest highly-anticipated offering of superstar Akshay Kumar, Gold has passed its opening weekend on an excellent note. After a major drop on Thursday, it showed solid growth over the weekend despite having John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate in parallel which is also getting a good response from the audience nationwide.

Based on India’s first Olympic gold medal as an independent nation, Gold has impressed many with its content and outstanding performances of all the actors. It has received overall positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience and gained a strong word of mouth. As a result, it got succeed to remain ahead of adjacent much-awaited release.

Directed by Reema Kagti, this sports drama was released on Independence Day amid the huge excitement of fans and as expected opened on an exceptional note. On Wednesday, it did the opening business of 25.25 crores and become the 3rd highest opener of the year so far in Bollywood after Sanju & Race 3.

On Thursday, due to normal working mid-week day, Gold witnessed a big drop in footfalls and did the business of 8.10 crores. After that, being a multiplex attraction, it successfully regained the pace and registered the business of 10.10 crores on Friday and 12.30 crores on Saturday.

On the next day i.e. Sunday, due to a public holiday, Excel Entertainment’s production recorded a healthy growth of 26.42% and raked the business of 15.55 crores. After the 5-days extended opening weekend, the total collection of Gold has become 71.30 crores nett (91.41 crores gross) from 3050 screens at the domestic box office.
