Gold 8th Day Collection, Akshay Kumar starrer Surpasses PadMan within 8 Days of Release

This Independence Day released superstar Akshay Kumar’s latest Hindi offering Gold has surpassed the lifetime total collection of his last movie PadMan (81.82 crores) within 8 days of release at the domestic box office despite having John Abraham’s successfully running Satyameva Jayate in its parallel.

Based on India’s first Olympic gold medal as an independent nation, Gold is directed by Reema Kagti and has received mostly positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience. With its strong content and brilliant performances by all the actors, the movie has impressed everyone and gained a solid word of mouth.

Excel Entertainment’s production was released amid the huge excitement of fans and as expected opened on an exceptional note. By maintaining a good pace throughout despite a major drop on day-2, this sports drama did the business of 71.30 crores in the 5-days extended weekend, that included 25.25 crores on Wednesday, 8.10 crores on Thursday, 10.10 crores on Friday, 12.30 crores on Saturday, and 15.55 crores on Sunday.

Now Gold is running on weekdays and as usual, getting lower footfalls in theaters than earlier. On Monday, it faced a drop of 50.62% than Thursday and minted the amount of 4 crores. On Tuesday, the movie witnessed a slight rise and raked the business of 4.60 crores.

Then on the next day i.e. 2nd Wednesday, due to a holiday on accounts of Eid-Al-Adha, Gold recorded a fair jump and garnered the business of 6.10 crores. With this, it has raised its 8 days total collection to 86 crores nett at the domestic box office from 3050 screens.
