‘Housefull 3’ Looses its Hold!

Superstar Akshay Kumar’s latest offering Housefull 3 showed outstanding performance in first 2 weeks. But now due to new buzzed release Udta Punjab, it has started loosing its hold over audience. Being the third installment of India’s most successful comedy franchise Housefull, the movie has been released with huge buzz among audience and witnessed terrific response in theaters. Unfortunately it has not received much positive reviews from critics but still it has acquired the second position among highest grossing movies of the year so far.

Housefull 3 performed excellently in the opening week and minted the amount of 80.10 crores across the country, including 53.31 crores of weekend and 26.79 crores of weekdays. In the second week it recorded decline of almost 70% in its business graph and raked the business of 23.10 crores, that includes 15.20 crores of weekend and 7.90 crores of weekdays. After 2 weeks, total domestic collection of Housefull 3 was calculated as 103.20 crores.

Now the movie is running in its third week and as stated above it is facing heavy competition due to new release Udta Punjab. On its 3rd Friday, it did the business of 0.65 crore with 60% of drop than previous day. Then on Saturday, being weekend it received slight rise in its business graph and minted the amount of 0.92 crore. On the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, it reported the business of 1.45 crore and made its 17 days domestic total as 106.22 crores.

With this, it has become the fourth highest grossing comedy movie of all time in Bollywood by surpassing the lifetime collection record of Son of Sardaar (105.03 crores). Now the movie once again entered in weekdays and as expected getting lesser response than weekend. On Monday, it started the day with low occupancy and witnesses average response now. As per early report, Housefull 3 seems to rake near about 0.43 crore* on its 18th day. With this its 18 days total will become 106.65 crores* on Indian box office.
