The first-ever collaboration of ace filmmaker Shoojit Sircar and mass favorite actor Varun Dhawan, October hasn’t got a desired start at the box office but it is maintaining well even after the opening week. Despite IPL 2018 and several new Hindi releases, it remained to move steadily in the second week.
Written by Juhi Chaturvedi, October is a heartwarming but unconventional love story that based on a thin line subject. This is why it is not getting an acceptable response from the single screens, while the multiplex going audiences are showing good interest towards the movie.
Being a non-masala flick, Varun Dhawan & the debutante Banita Sandhu starrer took a slow start but managed to complete the opening week on a decent note due to critical acclaim. It did the business of 30.24 crores in the first week, that included 20.25 crores of the weekend and 9.99 crores of weekdays from 1683 screens across India.
In the second weekend, October took a solid jump and registered the business of total 9.58 crores, that included 1.89 crores of 2nd Friday, 3.42 crores of 2nd Saturday and 4.27 crores of 2nd Sunday. Now it is running on weekdays again and as usual, witnessing lower occupancy in theaters than earlier.
On 2nd Monday, the movie bagged the amount of 1.14 crore after a drop of 39.50% than 2nd Friday. With slight further decrement, it collected the amount of 1.08 crore on 2nd Tuesday. Then on 2nd Wednesday, October got dropped by 12% due to RCB vs CSK IPL T20 cricket match and scored 0.95 crore to take its 13 days total domestic collection to 42.99 crores.
