By the end of its second weekend, epic period drama Padmaavat that was initially known as Padmavati has entered in the 200 crore club and also surpassed the lifetime total of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (210.16 crores). With this, it has become the 11th highest grossing movie of all time in Hindi cinema within just 11 days of release.
Surrounded by numerous controversies, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat was released last Thursday with great hype among the audience and surprisingly reported an excellent opening despite challenging conditions across the country.
Because of flawless execution and powerful performances by Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, the film got succeed to impress viewers and gained strong word of mouth. As a result, it remained rock-steady throughout and did the business of 166.50 crores in the 8-days extended opening week.
The first week total collection included 114 crores of 4-days weekend and 52.50 crores of weekdays despite not being released in major states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.
Now Padmaavat is running in the second week and once again showed remarkable growth over the second weekend. With minimal drop than the previous day, it minted the amount of 10 crores on 2nd Friday. Then on Saturday the film took a superb jump and collected 16 crores.
On the next day i.e. 2nd Sunday, Padmaavat witnessed further growth and garnered the business of 20 crores. With this, the 11 days total collection of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures’ presentation has become 212.50 crores at the domestic box office.
