Despite all the threats and controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated Padmaavat is all set to release this Thursday on 25 January 2018 with great hype among audience. Starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, this epic drama has received terrific response for it’s paid previews held on Wednesday and getting very positive reviews from viewers.
Since after the special screenings, entire Bollywood and most of the critics are praising the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and team for making such a spectacular film. With the favorable remarks by audience and experts post screening and paid previews, Padmaavat has gained positive word of mouth before it’s actual release.
Though numerous protests against the release of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures’ presentation, have created fear in audience but still the film has witnessed excellent advance booking across the country excluding several states where it is not being released or getting released partially.
As per the report, Padmaavat has reported overall 60-65% of occupancy in India for it’s paid previews and would receive 10-15% more on the opening day on around 3000-3500 screens. Considering all the facts and figures, the film looks capable to register the opening in range of 20-25 crores at domestic box office.
The film could go past 30 crores on day-1 no doubt, if conditions were ideal, but they are not. So it will have to bear that loss because of no release in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa. UP, Bihar and Haryana are also not giving full support to the film.
Talking about the previous records of box office, then Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika and Ranveer’s last collaboration 2015’s Bajirao Mastani did the opening business of 12.80 crores opposite to Shahrukh Khan’s Dilwale. In case of Padmaavat, there is no clash but threats and protests will play spoilsport for atleast couple of days.
