After completing 2 weeks of release on an excellent note, highly buzzed Padmaavat is now in its third week and has superstar Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated PadMan in the opposite. The new release has diverted major audience toward itself, but still, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus managed to remain good at the box office.
Surrounded by numerous controversies, earlier Padmaavat was supposed to clash with PadMan on January 25, but on Bhansali’s request, Akshay delayed his film by two weeks. As per schedule, R.Balki’s directorial is here now and ready to slow down the run of this epic period drama.
On the 3rd Friday, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor starrer has witnessed a usual drop of 30% and minted the amount of 3.50 crores. With this, the total collection of Padmaavat after 16 days, has become 239.50 crores at the domestic box office.
Because of controversies, Viacom18 Motion Pictures’ presentation gained huge hype among the audience and as a result opened to an excellent note. Due to positive word of mouth, it remained strong throughout the 8-days extended opening week and did the business of 166.50 crores that included 114 crores of 4-days weekend and 52.50 crores of weekdays.
Then in the second week as well, Padmaavat showed steady performance and bagged the amount of 69.50 crores with 46 crores on weekend and 23.50 crores in weekdays. Despite PadMan, it is positively expected to show fair growth over the third weekend.
