Kabir Khan directorial latest movie Phantom has covered its first weekend with excellent business at box office. The movie was released on 28th August with 2600 screens in India and has received positive response from audience as well as critics. On its first day, movie started on an average note but successfully attained height and ended up the weekend with good figures. This is the second movie of director Kabir Khan with Katrina Kaif after Ek Tha Tiger which was a blockbuster movie of year 2012.
Phantom is not capable enough to perform like Ek Tha Tiger but still going good as compare to previous thriller releases of the year. Katrina Kaif is back on silver screen after a long time gap and that is the reason behind such high excitement of fans towards the movie. In Phantom she is playing the role of secret agent opposite to the lead actor Saif Ali Khan. Audience appreciating the performance done by lead stars in the movie.
On its first day, Phantom recorded the overall occupancy of 50% and minted 8.46 crores. In morning it was started with an average occupancy but experienced good increment from evening shows, which resulted out in decent collection. On second day being weekend and also the holiday on accounts of Raksha Bandhan, it showed high rise in its business and made 12.78 crores. In overseas, it collected 6.62 crores as 2 days total. On the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, movie recorded slightly less occupancy than Saturday and raked around 11.94 crores as its third day collection. At the end of the day, the total weekend collection of Phantom is recorded as 33.18 crores.
