The major release of this week, Alia Bhatt starrer spy thriller Raazi has good buzz among the fans across the country. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, it is one of the most anticipated films of the year, as the powerhouse of talent Alia, star film producer Karan Johar, and the director who has given critically acclaimed Talvar are associated with it.
With wide-scale promotions, makers have set a good hype of the film among the targeted audience. Also, its trailer was strong enough and received a quite positive response from the viewers. Raazi also stars Vicky Kaushal in a pivotal role, but the film completely relies on the shoulders of Alia Bhatt.
Alia is one of the most talented and popular young actresses in Bollywood, who was last seen in a rom-com Badrinath Ki Dulhania. So far she has done two female-oriented films- Highway & Dear Zindagi, those were opened at 3.42 crores & 8.75 crores respectively.
2016’s coming-of-age drama film Dear Zindagi also had superstar Shahrukh Khan in a supporting role, so we can’t expect similar opening for Raazi. But as compared to 2014’s Highway, now Alia is more popular and established, so her new offering will definitely open in a higher range.
Dharma Productions and Junglee Pictures’ new presentation is releasing on a similar number of screens as Varun Dhawan’s October, which registered the opening of 5.04 crores. So considering all the facts and figures, it seems Raazi can open in a range of 4.50 – 5.50 crores at the domestic box office, which is a decent start for a film which doesn’t attract masses from the very first day.
Opposite to Raazi, Naseeruddin Shah and Sonali Kulkarni starrer slice-of-life family drama Hope Aur Hum is also being released this Friday. Sudip Bandyopadhyay’s directorial does not have enough buzz to divert the desired crowd, but still, it is expected to open in a range of 0.50-0.75 crore across India.
