The Legend of Tarzan & Shorgul, take Slow Start
This week’s new releases Shorgul & The Legend of Tarzan have taken a slow start on Indian box office. It seems all are just waiting for Salman Khan’s Sultan, which is releasing on coming Wednesday i.e. July 6. There was not much expectations with Shorgul but The Legend of Tarzan was supposed to open with at least decent occupancy. Unfortunately none of these, has received much positive reviews from critics.
Political thriller Hindi movie Shorgul is directed by Pranav Kumar Singh and produced by the banner 24 FPS Film Pvt. Ltd. It features Jimmy Shergill, Suha Gezen, Ashutosh Rana, Narendra Jha, Anirudh Daveand Sanjay Suri in lead roles. Being a low budgeted, low star powered and less promoted, the movie was not expected to show any miracle after release.
As expected, it started the opening day on a dull note and ended it on the same. With 4% of overall occupancy across the country, Shorgul minted the amount of only 0.35 crore. The cold reaction of viewers and critics, doesn’t give hope of any considerable growth on Saturday.
On the other hand, action adventure Hollywood movie The Legend of Tarzan, presented by banners Warner Bros. Pictures & Village Roadshow Pictures. The movie had little pre-release buzz among audience due to promotions. But it has not received much response as compare to earlier expectations. Critics are not looking completely satisfied with it, which has melted down the excitement of some audience.
On the opening day, it started with low occupancy and reported overall 15% occupancy across the country. The movie added the amount of 2 crores to its account from India. The Legend of Tarzan is expected to show some growth on Saturday and Sunday, as these days Indian audience prefers English movies more over weak Hindi ones.
