Vijay’s Theri Crosses 38 Cr in 1st Weekend across Tamil Nadu
South Indian Superstar Vijay’s latest offering, the action Tamil movie ‘Theri’ has completed its opening weekend journey on a good note. The movie has been released with huge hype among audience on 425 screens in Tamil Nadu. It had taken a superb start on box office due to initial buzz and emerged as biggest opener of Vijay’s career so far across Tamil state, but received mixed reviews from critics as well as moviegoers. Despite not so hot reactions, Theri has witnessed amazing response through out the weekend on Indian as well as international market.
Fans of Vijay are very much excited for his latest flick and creating huge buzz about it on social media. As a result, it successfully maintained a good pace and raked excellent business total in weekend. Earlier the movie was expected to break the opening record of Thala Ajith’s Vedhalam that was 15.50 cr, but it got failed to do that because of Chengalpet issue, as Theri has not released in many theaters there.
On its opening day, Atlee’s directorial Theri reported fabulous performance and minted the amount of 13.10 cr as its opening collection from Tamil Nadu. Due to mixed reviews, it witnessed heavy drop in its business on its second day and collected 7 cr. On the next day i.e. on Saturday with little rise it raked the amount of 9.50 cr*. Then on the last day of weekend, it reported almost similar response and added 9 cr* to its account. At the end of the weekend, total collection of Theri across Tamil Nadu is recorded as 38.60 cr*.
