Udta Punjab Fares Decent in 2nd Weekend

Last week released much crime thriller Hindi movie Udta Punjab showed an amazing performance in its opening week. It registered the 5th highest opening week record of the year so far. The movie has been released with good buzz among audience, that it gained due to censor board controversy. The entire chaos resulted in favor of Udta Punjab and helped it to get impressive response on box office, even the after pre-release leak on internet.

Anurag Kashyap’s this controversial venture received very positive reviews from most of the critics. Everyone appreciated the content and performances of the movie. Audience liked it and showed bug thumbs up, as a result it minted the amount of 33.80 crores in the opening weekend, that includes 10.05 crores of Friday, 11.25 crores of Saturday and 12.50 crores of Sunday across India.

In weekdays, it faced an abrupt drop in its occupancy than weekend but still managed to hold overall good business total in a week. With regular decrements, the movie did the business of 4.50 crores on Monday, 4 crores on Tuesday, 3.40 crores on Wednesday and 2.80 crores on Thursday. After a week, total domestic collection of Udta Punjab was recorded as 48.50 crores.

Now it is running in the second week and fared decent in the second weekend. Due to new releases, ofcourse it struggled much but some how managed to collect almost decent. On Friday, with around 55% of fall as compare to previous day Udta Punjab raked 1.45 crore. Then on Saturday, being weekend it witnessed 50% rise and minted 2.20 crores.

On the last day of weekend i.e. Sunday, being public holiday the movie started on a slightly better note than Saturday and added the amount of 2.45 crores to its account with around 12% of growth. After the end of its 2nd weekend, total collection of Udta Punjab has become 54.60 crores on domestic box office. With this it has surpassed the lifetime total of Ki & Ka (52.10 crores) and emerged as 7th highest grossing movie of 2016 so far.
