‘Udta Punjab’ Takes Off on a Good Note!

The most controversial movie of the year so far, Udta Punjab is being liked by all. This crime thriller deals with the problem of drug addiction in youth of state Punjab. It has received very positive reviews from most of the critics, because of strong content and performances it has got overall 4 stars rating. All the censor board controversies it faced earlier, is resulting out in favor of it on box office.

Couple of days ago from release, censor copy of Udta Punjab got leaked on internet. CBFC members already dragged themselves out from this matter. But as per sources, the person behind all this is none other than the producer Anurag Kashyap. Of course this strategy made some audience to watch the movie before its release but once again raised its name in news and social media heavily. Entire Bollywood was tweeting in favor of Udta Punjab and that is the reason it is performing fairly well at box office now. If all this is not a rumor, then surely Anurag is a genius businessman.

Movies with such stories based on reality of society always get favorable reviews and Udta Punjab is witnessing the same. This time not only critics and celebrities but some audience were also there to spread positive buzz about the movie before its actual release. Earlier trade analysts were looking confused with the performance of this crime thriller at last it has come out with good.

Udta Punjab has released on pretty good number of screens i.e. around 2000 across India and started the opening day with overall 35% of occupancy. From evening shows it recorded good growth and reported overall first day occupancy as 45%. With this, it has minted the amount of 10.05 crores on domestic box office. Saturday is expected to result in almost similar as Friday, because the pirated version of movie is already available on internet.
