Vijay’s Theri Heading Decently on Box Office
Atlee’s directorial latest offering, Vijay starrer Theri has taken an excellent start on box office this Thursday but received mixed reviews from critics as well as moviegoers. It has huge pre-release hype among audience which has resulted out in such amazing opening but mixed response is affecting its performance. Fans of Vijay are showing thumbs up to the movie and creating good buzz about it on social media but that is not enough for Theri to sustain with decent pace. Critics have marked the movie as ‘strictly for fans’ and rated it with average stars.
Theri has been released with a screen count of 425 in Tamil Nadu and reported excellent business of 13.10 cr across the state on its opening day. With this figure, it has become the biggest opener of Vijay’s career so far but got failed to break the opening record of Thala Ajith Kumar’s Vedhalam. Earlier Vijay’s Kaththi was his biggest opener with 12.50 cr business.
Due to mixed response of audience as well as critics, Theri witnessed considerable drop in its occupancy on the second day and minted the amount of 7 cr. The on the next day i.e. Saturday, it showed little rise and added 9.50 cr* to its account. Till the end of its third day, total collection of Theri on TN box office is recorded as 29.60 cr*. The movie has to maintain its pace to set a strong weekend total.
