Dilwale vs Bajirao Mastani
Last month released two much awaited Hindi movies Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani, are now receiving average occupancy in theaters across the country. Both the movies have enjoyed long freeway as there were no new releases from last three weeks. This was the biggest clash of last year 2015 in Bollywood and was supposed to be favor of Shahrukh Khan starrer Dilwale. But nothing happened in that way, and Bajirao Mastani has proved itself as the winner of this battle at domestic box office. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus this historical love story was started on a decent note but with steady business, it has achieved higher position.
Ranveer-Deepika and Priyanka Chopra starrer Bajirao Mastani has received strong reviews from critics as well as audience. Due to positive word of mouth, it is still getting something in account. The movie has already become the third highest grosser of 2015 after Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, also it has surpassed adjacent one Dilwale. It has done the total business of 170.90 crores in last three weeks on Indian screens, that includes 86.15 crores of first week, 55.70 crores of second week and 29.05 crores of third week. On its fourth Friday, it was recorded low response and minted the amount of 1.40 crores.
One the other hand SRK-Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer Dilwale was started on an excellent note at box office, also received almost positive reviews from critics as well as audience. But still slowed down just after the opening weekend. It has done the business of 146.68 crores in last three weeks on Indian screens, that includes 102.65 crores of first week, 32.56 crores of second week and 11.47 crores of third week. The movie has added the low amount of 0.41 crore* to its account on its fourth Friday.
On the second day of fourth week, as expected Bajirao Mastani has witnessed decent response in India but higher than Rohit Shetty’s directorial Dilwale. They have raked the amounts of 2.35 crores and 0.45 crore* respectively as their 23rd day collection. The newly released Wazir is not getting much response from audience, but still being the first big release of the year 2016 gaining attention.
As per reports, till yet Bajirao Mastani has minted approx. 100 crores from its overseas screens, whereas Dilwale has collected more than 150 crores. So we can say, Bajirao Mastani is ruling over domestic box office and Dilwale is ruling on overseas box office. Soon few more big movies will get released and these both will get winded up.
