Great Grand Masti to take Decent Start on Box Office

Adult comedy Great Grand Masti is forcefully releasing on this Friday i.e. July 15 instead of July 22. A day before the release of YRF’s Sultan, this third installment of franchise Masti was leaked on internet. Due to which makers were decided to prepone it by a week. Pulling movie in front by a week was not the easy task, because Sultan is strongly ruling on box office.

Producers Ekta Kapoor & Ashok Thakeria had a talk with the chairman of Yash Raj Films Aditya Chopra on this and narrated him the whole situation. After this, Aditya showed his generous side and agreed to share some screens of Sultan with Great Grand Masti. Also the thriller movie Madaari which was earlier scheduled to be released on July 15, is now pushed back by a week.

Releasing lesser star powered movie behind superstar Salman Khan’s Sultan is obviously not a smart move. But this was only choice left to the makers of Great Grand Masti after its back door exit. Being ‘A’ certified, it targets only youth audience and some of them have already watched its pirated version. So in such circumstances, it won’t be possible for the movie to take good start on box office with approx. 1500 screens.

But still it is expected to witness decent occupancy of 30 – 35% across the country, because the franchise has good record with its last two installments. With this, Great Grand Masti can rake the amount of 4 – 4.5 crores on domestic box office. The only thing which can save it, is the word of mouth. Let see how audience will react after watching the movie.
