Box Office: Phillauri First Day Collection Prediction, Expected to take Decent Start across India

Expected Opening of Anushka Sharma & Diljit Dosanjh’s Phillauri

Despite a bog-standard budget, Phillauri is not an average release of this Friday. Because of it’s star cast, interesting trailer, Sufi music and a good scale promotions, this romantic comedy has gained decent pre-release buzz among fans as well as audience. Not very impressive but the movie is positively expected to take decent start across the country on it’s opening day.

Phillauri is the second offering of Bollywood’s one of the most popular actresses Anushka Sharma as a producer under her production house Clean Slate Films. It also stars the prince of Punjab Diljit Dosanjh in lead role, who made his debut with Udta Punjab and received huge appreciation from viewers. Along with them Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Kaur Pirzada are also in lead.

Reportedly, Anshai Lal’s directorial Phillauri is made with the moderate budget of 21 crores including P&A and has already recovered 12 crores from the satellite & music rights. That means only 9 crores are needed to be recovered as distributor share at box office, which it can rake in the opening week only if it gets positive response from critics as well as audience.

Like a normal release, pre-booking of Phillauri had been partially started from Sunday and reported an average advance booking till the end of Thursday. After noticing the craze of fans and audience, it is expected that Anushka-Diljit starrer can witness decent occupancy of 25-30% in multiplexes and 10-20% in single screens.

Talking about previous records, then Anushka Sharma’s previous production venture NH10 did the opening business of 3.35 crores in India. While Diljit’s solo Punjabi movies usually take more than 2 crores of opening in India. So having hope for a decent start of 3.50 – 4.50 crores with Phillauri, is not an over-expectation.

In opposite to this, Swara Bhaskar’s Anaarkali Of Aarah is also being released which can attract single screen audience of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar & Jharkhand due to it’s local flavor. But it doesn’t seem to collect more than 0.50 crore on the opening day. Further performance depends on the reviews of critics.
