Hollywood Dominates Bollywood on Indian Box Office this Week
This Friday released out of number of Hindi offerings, none has appeal to attract enough audience toward theaters and reported considerable occupancy. Although the much buzzed Hollywood movies Baywatch and Wonder Woman have also not witnessed good response on the opening day but still stand on top among all the new releases.
Priyanka Chopra, Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron starrer action comedy received mixed reviews from critics as well as audience. It recorded only 15-20% of occupancy across India on Friday and collected 1.75 crore plus 0.25 crore with previews on Thursday. While Gal Gadot starrer action adventure Wonder Woman witnessed 25-30% of occupancy and despite lesser screen count and only in English language, it collected 2.25 crore with favorable reviews.
All the Hindi offerings of this week recorded occupancy of not more than 7-8% and remained under 0.50 crore of business on the opening day. While already existing Hindi Medium showed better hold, followed by last week’s Sachin A Billion Dreams and last month’s Baahubali 2.
Unfortunately none of the new Hindi movie, has received positive reviews from critics. So there is no expectations with them to raise over the weekend, except Hanuman Da’Damdaar which can attract kids as all are enjoying summer vacation these days.
Apart from these, there is one more new Indian movie in English language A Death In The Gunj, which is getting very positive reviews from critics as well as Bollywood celebs. But due to limited screens, it doesn’t seem to left a impression at box office.
