Now Punjabi Cinema is not just limited to only Punjab and nearby regions, it gets audience across the country as well as overseas. In a recent past, Gippy Grewal’s Manje Bistre gave a strong competition to the adjacent Hindi offering Begum Jaan. Once again the Hindi movie Bank Chor is being dominated by the Punjabi one Super Singh in at Indian box office.
This Friday released, the much awaited adventure comedy drama Super Singh of Punjabi Cinema’s superstar Diljit Dosanjh is getting excellent response from fans as well as audience in India. Everyone liked the movie and creating good buzz about it on social media, which is attracting more audience toward theaters.
On the opening day, Anurag Singh’s directorial India’s first Punjabi superhero movie got strong start and registered the fifth highest opening of all time in Punjabi Cinema with 1.80 crore from around 350 screens nationwide. After this, now Diljit has 4 movies among top 5 biggest Punjabi openers.
On Saturday due to weekend and positive word of mouth, Super Singh witnessed decent jump and collected the amount of 2.05 crores. Then on Sunday because of India v/s Pakistan cricket match, it recorded lower footfalls than expected and minted 1.90 crores to make it’s opening weekend domestic total 5.75 crores.
On the other hand, the opposite one Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi starrer Hindi comic caper movie Bank Chor started it’s journey on a dull at domestic box office. Despite good promotion, it got failed to attract audience toward theaters. Also it received almost negative reviews from most of the critics.
On Friday, Bumpy’s directorial took poor start of 1.40 crore with only 5-10% of occupancy on 700 screens in India. On the next day i.e. Saturday, it showed limited growth and managed to collect the amount of 1.66 crore.
Then on Sunday, because of the same reason it remained dull on public holiday too and garnered the business of 1.30 crore. With this, opening weekend total collection of Bank Chor has become 4.36 crores nett. across the country.
