This Friday, three Hindi offerings have been released at box office; comedy drama Mubarakan, history dramas Indu Sarkar and Raag Desh. Among these three, only the first one has good buzz and diverted major audience towards itself. That is why, despite positive reviews the other two are struggling to attract viewers.
Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, Indu Sarkar is set against the backdrop of 1975-1977 during the emergency in India. The film shows the dark side of Indira Gandhi’s government which was in rule that time, this is why it had to face some controversy before the release.
Because of it’s hard hitting content, Indu Sarkar received good response after the release of it’s official trailer. Also it is getting positive reviews from most of the critics but still not able to give any competition to Mubarakan.
On Friday, it recorded 10-15% of occupancy on 825 screens across India and minted the amount of 0.85 crore. Noticing the performance of Lipstick Under My Burkha in last week, Indu Sarkar was also expected to take fair jump on Saturday, but it remained dull and collected 0.95 crore.
On the other hand, director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Raag Desh is based on the joint court martial of three Indian National Army officers Colonel Prem Sehgal, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon, Major Shah Nawaz Khan.
Mohit Marwah, Kunal Kapoor and Amit Sadh starrer was hit the headlines because of being premiered in Rashtrapati Bhawan as a farewell to former president Pranab Mukherjee, but in actual struggling at box office.
On Friday with 5-10% of occupancy, Raag Desh did the business of 0.14 crore from approx. 400 screens. On Saturday too, it remained low and raked the business of 0.15 crore. With this, the movie has raised it’s 2 days domestic total to 0.29 crore.
