The new offering of this week from Bollywood, Mubarakan started it’s journey on an above-average note, but due to positive word of mouth this romantic comedy drama picked up well from Saturday and completed the opening weekend on an overall decent note at Indian box office.
From a long time Hindi audience was waiting for a clean slapstick comedy and fortunately Mubarakan has proved itself the one. Everyone including critics have liked the film and reacted in it’s favor. As a result, it reported good growth in business over the weekend.
On the opening day, Anees Bazmee’s directorial recorded an average occupancy in theaters for morning shows across the country and did the business of 5.16 crores with slight rise over the evening and night shows. With this, Mubarakan has emerged as the twelfth highest opener of the year so far though, but the opening was under expectations.
On Saturday being weekend and due to positive response of viewers, this family entertainer showed 43% of growth than Friday and minted the amount of 7.38 crores. Then on Sunday too, it took fair growth of 40.51% and raked the business of 10.37 crores.
After the opening weekend, total collection of Mubarakan has become 22.91 crores at domestic box office from 2350 screens. Now to be on safe side, it has to maintain the pace in weekdays as well, otherwise it can be the next flop after Jagga Jasoos and Munna Michael.
Unfortunately Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ileana D’cruz and Athiya Shetty starrer has only this week to prove it’s potential at box office, as SRK-Anushka’s Jab Harry Met Sejal is all set to take box office by storm from next week.
