The most anticipated Hindi movie of this week Bareilly Ki Barfi has performed comparatively lower than the English one Annabelle Creation though. But it showed good growth over the weekend despite an average opening and mixed reviews. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, this romantic comedy made good impressive on fans as well as moviegoers with it’s promos but because of clutter at box office it got failed to receive desired response.
On the opening day, Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao starrer Bareilly Ki Barfi recorded low occupancy and did the business of 2.42 crores. Based on universal genre, it witnessed decent growth on Saturday and minted 3.85 crores. Then on Sunday with further jump, it raked the business of 5.03 crores and raised it’s opening weekend total to 11.30 crores at domestic box office.
While the new installment from the popular American horror franchise The Conjuring, Annabelle: Creation has reported highest performance among all the new offerings despite having a genre that attracts selected audience. On the opening day, prequel to 2014’s Annabelle recorded almost good occupancy across India and did the business of 4.50 crores plus 2.75 crores it collected with paid previews on Tuesday to Thursday.
Due to positive word of mouth, David F. Sandberg’s directorial took decent jump on Saturday and minted the amount of 7 crores. Then on Sunday too, it showed more growth and added 7.75 crores to it’s account. With this total collection of Annabelle: Creation has become 22 crores after first 3 days of release at Indian box office.
On the other hand, other two Hindi movies VIP 2 Lalkar and Partition 1947 have received far lesser response than expected. The Hindi version of the English movie Viceroy’s House, Partition 1947 has got positive reviews from critics but limited audience. As a result it garnered the business of total 0.61 crore in the opening weekend, that included 0.11 crore of Friday, 0.20 crore of Saturday and 0.30 crore of Sunday.
While the dubbed Hindi version of Dhanush & Kajol starrer last week released Tamil movie Velai Illa Pattadhaari 2 aka VIP 2, VIP 2 Lalkar has received mixed reviews from critics like it did in Tamil Nadu. Soundarya Rajinikanth’s directorial this action drama grossed the amount of 2.05 crores nett in the opening weekend with it’s Hindi version, that included 0.55 crore of Friday, 0.70 crore of Saturday and 0.80 crores of Sunday.
