The satirical romantic drama Toilet Ek Prem Katha has not only ended the long dry spell of Indian box office but also emerged as the third highest grossing movie of the year so far within 2 weeks of release. Now it is running in third week and heading smoothly to acquire second position by dominating SRK’s Raees.
Superstar Akshay Kumar starrer TEPK has impressed everyone with it’s solid content and also the actor received huge appreciation for his brilliant acting. The movie stars Bhumi Pednekar in opposite to him, who has also made a strong impact on viewers.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet Ek Prem Katha recorded amazing occupancy in the opening week throughout and did the business of total 96.05 crores from 3000 screens. That included 51.45 crores of weekend and 44.60 crores of weekdays.
In the second week too, the movie remained good and managed to collect 28.35 crores including 19 crores of weekend and 9.35 crores of weekdays. Now it is running in third week and slowed down due to having several new Hindi offerings in opposite but still has enough hold over the audience.
In the third weekend, TEPK raked the business of 4.50 crores with 1 crore of Friday, 1.50 crore of Saturday and 2 crore of Sunday. After 17 days of release, total collection of the movie was recorded as 128.90 crores.
Now once again Akshay-Bhumi starrer is in weekdays and getting lesser footfalls in theaters than before. On 3rd Monday, it faced 30% of drop than Friday and minted 0.70 crore. While on the next day i.e. 3rd Tuesday, Toilet Ek Prem Katha garnered 0.60 crore and raised it’s 19 days domestic total to 130.20 crores.
