One of the most popular superstars in Indian cinema, Akshay Kumar’s latest offering Toilet Ek Prem Katha had became his highest grossing movie of all time within 4 weeks of release. Due to strong content and brilliant performances by entire cast, it gained positive word of mouth and completed 5 weeks on an overall excellent note.
Inspired by true incidents, TEPK is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and starring Bhumi Pednekar alongside Akshay in lead role. After starting it’s journey on an impressive note, it remained strong throughout the opening week and did the business of 96.05 crores, that included 51.45 crores of weekend and 44.60 crores of weekdays from 3000 screens.
In the second week as well, the movie remained good and raked the business of 28.35 crores with 19 crores on weekend and 9.35 crores on weekdays. Then in third week, it got slowed down by usual rate due to new offerings and registered the business of 7 crores including 4.50 crores of weekend and 2.50 crores of weekdays.
With further drop, Toilet Ek Prem Katha minted the amount of 2 crores in the fourth week, that included 1.20 crore of weekend and 0.80 crore of weekdays. Then in the fifth week, Akshay-Bhumi starrer dropped more and added the amount of 0.50 crore to it’s account with 0.30 crore in weekend and 0.20 crore in weekdays.
After 5 weeks total collection of this satirical romantic drama was recorded as 133.90 crores nett i.e. 185.97 crores gross at domestic box office. In 35 days, Toilet Ek Prem Katha grossed the business of around 30 crores from overseas market and raised it’s worldwide total to 215.97 crores.
