The latest offering of John Abraham, much-awaited Satyameva Jayate has registered a solid 5-days extended opening weekend. After a major drop in footfalls on its second day, it managed to remain almost steady throughout despite having highly-anticipated Akshay Kumar starrer Gold in its parallel.
Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, Satyameva Jayate has received mixed reviews from the critics due to not so effective story-line & some flaws in direction, but, being a mass entertainer, it got succeed to entertain most of the viewers and gained a good word of mouth. As a result, it is giving a neck to neck competition to Gold in some Indian regions.
Starring the very talented Manoj Bajpayee as a second lead along with John & debutante Aisha Sharma, this vigilante action thriller was released on Independence Day amid the huge excitement of fans and as expected opened on an amazing note. It registered the 5th best opening of the year so far in Bollywood with 20.52 crores.
On Thursday, due to normal working mid-week day, Satyameva Jayate witnessed a big drop in footfalls like the adjacent release and did the business of 7.92 crores. After that, it managed to take to some growth and minted the amount of 9.18 crores on Friday and 9.03 crores on Saturday.
On the next day i.e. Sunday, T-Series & Emmay Entertainment’s production recorded a healthy growth of 13.62% and garnered the business of 10.26 crores. After the weekend, the total collection of SMJ has become 56.91 crores nett from 2500 screens at the domestic box office.
