In parallel to Akshay Kumar’s Gold, John Abraham’s much-awaited Satyameva Jayate was released also on Independence Day and surprisingly opened on an amazing note. It has got a rocking response on single screens and as a result, registered a solid 5-days extended opening weekend despite a major drop on the second day.
Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, Satyameva Jayate has received mixed reviews from the critics due to ineffective story-line and flaws in direction. But being a mass entertainer, it got succeed to pull major single screen audience toward itself over the weekend. Also in some Indian regions, it has given a neck to neck competition to Gold.
Produced by T-Series & Emmay Entertainment, this vigilante action thriller opened on an excellent note and did the business of 20.52 crores on Wednesday. After such a massive start, it has become the 5th highest opener of the year so far in Bollywood and the biggest one of John Abraham’s career.
On Thursday, Satyameva Jayate witnessed a big drop of 61.40% and minted the amount of 7.92 crores. After that, it took a limited growth and minted the amount of 9.18 crores on Friday, 9.03 crores on Saturday & 10.26 crores on Sunday by remaining almost steady. After the weekend, its total collection was recorded at 56.91 crores.
Now on weekdays, as usual, the movie recorded a drop of 52.53% than Thursday and garnered the business of 3.76 crores. With this, the total collection of SMJ after 6 days has become 60.67 crores nett at the domestic box office from 2500 screens.
