3rd Day Collection of Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi and Genius: 1st Weekend Box Office Report

After a slow start on Friday, Mudassar Aziz’s directorial Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi got succeed to pick up well on Saturday & Sunday and passed the opening weekend on an overall decent note. Despite the two existing biggies Gold & Satyameva Jayate, it successfully managed to make a place.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is the sequel to 2016’s Happy Bhag Jayegi, which was not a clean-hit but made the audience laugh and recovered all its investment. The predecessor had Diana Penty in lead role, but this time makers roped in Sonakshi Sinha along with Diana Penty, Jimmy Shergill, Ali Fazal, Piyush Mishra & Jassie Gill.

On the opening day, Eros International and Aanand L. Rai’s presentation took a very low start with an occupancy of 5-10%. With a decent growth post noon shows, it collected 2.70 crores on Friday. Then on Saturday, it witnessed a fair jump of 49.26% and minted the amount of 4.03 crores.

On the next day i.e. Sunday, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi recorded a further jump and raked the business of 5.05 crores. With this, the total collection of the movie after 3 days has become 11.78 crores nett at the domestic box office. Happy Bhag Jayegi did the business of 10.71 crores in its opening weekend.

On the other hand, director Anil Sharma’s Genius starring new faces Utkarsh Sharma & Ishita Chauhan, has got failed to leave an impact on anyone. On Friday, it did the business of only 0.75 crore, while Saturday added 1 crore to its account. On Sunday, this action thriller collected 1.25 crores and raised 3 days total to 3 crores.
