Last Friday released unusual romantic drama Manmarziyaan has registered an average opening week after a decent weekend. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the movie has received mostly positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience but still hasn’t witnessed the expected footfalls in theaters.
Starring Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu & Vicky Kaushal in lead roles, Manmarziyaan is a youth-friendly movie which doesn’t attract the family audience. This is the reason behind not-so-good occupancy across the country despite the favorable feedback of viewers.
After a slow start, Aanand L Rai’s production showed a healthy uptrend over the weekend and registered the business of 14.33 crores, that included 3.52 crores on Friday, 5.11 crores on Saturday & 5.70 crores on Sunday. Then on weekdays, as usual, the movie experienced a considerable decline.
On Monday, Manmarziyaan did the business of 2.10 crores after a drop of 40.34% than Friday. With a further dip, it minted the amount of 1.80 crores on Tuesday & 1.45 crores on Wednesday. On the next day i.e. Thursday, it collected 1.72 crores and raised 1 week total collection to 21.40 crores at the domestic box office.
On the other hand, Jackky Bhagnani and Kritika Kamra starrer Mitron has received mixed reviews and raked the business of 2.40 crores in the weekend. Then on weekdays, it minted 0.35 crore on Monday, 0.30 crore on Tuesday, 0.25 crore on Wednesday and 0.25 crore on Thursday. After a week, its total collection has become 3.55 crores.
While director Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia struggled a lot at the box office. It did the business of 1.15 crore in the weekend and 0.60 crore on weekdays with 0.20 crore on Monday, 0.15 crore on Tuesday, 0.10 crore on Wednesday & 0.15 crore on Thursday. The total collection of the movie after a week has become 1.75 crores.
