After a dull opening, very promising film producer Aanand L. Rai’s recent presentation Tumbbad picked up good over the weekend due to positive word of mouth. While the rest of the Hindi releases have got mixed reactions and remained almost below-average at the box office.
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Anand Gandhi, Adesh Prasad, horror fantasy Tumbbad has got succeed to impress many in theaters with its gripping story-line. As a result, it received positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience across India.
On the first day, the movie recorded poor footfalls and did the business of only 0.65 crore. From the next day, it witnessed a healthy jump and minted the amount of 1.15 crores on Saturday & 1.45 crores on Sunday. With this, the total 3 days collection has become 3.25 crores.
The other Hindi offering, director Pradeep Sarkar’s drama Helicopter Eela has received mixed reviews from the viewers and did the business of 0.75 crore on Friday. Then with a fair growth, it raked 1.10 crores on Saturday & 1.25 crores on Sunday. After a weekend, its total collection has become 3.10 crores.
While Mahesh Bhatt’s presentation romantic drama Jalebi has also gathered mixed feedback and registered the opening of 0.50 crore on Friday. With a limited jump over the weekend, it collected 0.60 crore on Saturday & 0.60 crore on Sunday and raised 3-days total collection to 1.70 crores.
In parallel, Govinda & Varun Sharma starrer comedy-drama FryDay has reported the lowest numbers among all the new releases. With mixed reviews, it did the business of 0.30 crore on Friday. Then on Saturday & Sunday, the movie bagged 0.35 crore & 0.55 crore respectively. After 3-days, its total collection has become 1.20 crores.
