Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi Third Day Performance
30th May saw release of one more comedy entertainer “Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi” along with Citylights.
- Cast: Siddharth Gupta, Ashish Juneja, Simran Kaur Mundi, Amit Sail
- Director: Aman Sachdeva
- Genre: Comedy
- Duration: 110 mins
Story: kuku and Ronnie are childhood friends, but when in their late teens they are supposedly grown up, they decide to grow out of their ways. Will their friendship be back? Here is a quick peek into the film.
It is a dosti-yaari story packaged and dished out in pure Dilli dhaaba-style- with local tadka and no toppings. Kuku Mathur (Siddharth) is a naive, middle class Delhi- boy living with his strict father who has scholarly ambitions for him, but unlike his father, kuku dreams of having a restaurant of his own. Ronnie (Ashish) is his dhai baje wala friend who is more easy –going street- smart. They spend time drinking fruit-beer in a sari ka godown.
After their 12th grade, kuku lands up as a spot boy in a shady film unit after much struggle. Meanwhile, Ronnie gets too busy with his family’s blouse piece business that he snubs kuku. Soon there are fights and then enters a smooth talker prabhakar bhaiyaa played by Amit Sail- a man who has devious solution for every problem but eventually makes Kuku ‘ cuckooed’. Thus, kuku ki jhand ho jati hai.
The plot is very straight with a group of characters that will make you chortle with their lines and lingos.
The warehouse guards telephonic romance with his gharwali, a phony godman who sells spirituality ( Mata ka jagran- season 2) and digital divinity (he is available in whatsapp and fb too), an OTT director’s film called ‘Facebook Ka Pyaar’ and then Prabhakar in a fine act totally entertains. Funny situations and quirky lines surely entertain but it cannot substitute for agood script. Kuku’s love interest Simarn too does not have much scope.
Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi 1st Weekend Box Office Collection
First Day Collection: 60 Lacs; It had a very disappointing opening on the first day of the release. Occupancy of about 25% only could be witnessed on the first day. The reviews by public also were cold.
Due to the IPL fever going on, evening shows could not give much to a low budget film like this. In addition, the screening of Citylights along with this seems to have a worse effect on the movie. More accolades are being given to Citylights.
Second Day Collection: 65.1 Lacs; Second day could give a bit higher earnings as eventually people came to know there is something like this one!
Third Day Collection: 69.8 Lacs; We are expecting more with the movie.
Total first weekend collection: 1.94 Cr
