With backing up by superstar Amitabh Bachchan & hit actor Dhanush as leads and interesting promos, Shamitabh made the desired business on box office. No clash factor present, hit songs, positive views and good word of mouth after weekend supported the film very well. Film had nice first weekday followed by similar sort of second weekday i.e. today. It is the latest comedy cum drama flick which has been released last Friday along with some other industry flicks.

It performed well at the box office as the other did. Audiences have just loved these two in leads and their performance as well as their timing is superb. There was fresh new face for the audience in this flick Akshara Haasan who is sister of beautiful Shruti Haasan. Overall Tuesday has also merged in favor of the film due to only Baby being its competitor and very obviously people are going for Shamitabh over Baby now. Occupancy could be seen dropped but still positive for it.

Though Baji emerged as a big competition to it in Maharashtra regions and Yennai Arindhaal in southern regions but still north Indian and remaining screens are contributing good response and excitement from the viewers and resulting in decent graph of the film by now. Film seems to rake good figures by the end of its first business week on big screens.
