Superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer biggest 3D Indian film ever made with 450 crores budget, 2.0 eventually got it’s new release date. The sequel to 2010’s Enthiran (Robot), this sci-fi has been scheduled to hit screens on 27 April 2018 after getting postponed several times.
Earlier 2.0 was supposed to release on Diwali 2017 but later due to delay in post-production it got shifted to 25 January 2018. Then Akshay Kumar announced his another film Padman to be released on 26 January which was initially scheduled for 13 April. So after that there was some sort of buzz, 2.0 could release on Vaisakhi.
Now finally makers have made everything cleared and announced the new release date of the film i.e. 27 April 2018. With this amendment in release date, 2.0 makers have also averted it’s clash with Varun Dhawan-Shoojit Sircar’s unusual love story October, which was expected to take place on 13 April 2018.
On November 2 at night, creative head of production banner Lyca Productions, Raju Mahalingam released a press note. “Lyca Productions – Superstar Rajinikanth – Akshay Kumar – Shankar magnum opus Sci-Fi action thriller 2.0 to be screened worldwide on April 2018″.
He added, “Nation’s costliest 3D film starring Superstar Rajinikanth, Akshay kumar, Amy Jackson, directed by Shankar, music by AR Rahman. The high-tech post production works are fully geared and the team is all set for the release schedule”.
It would be very exciting to see, will Rajinikanth-Akshay’s 2.0 repeat history after one year of India’s biggest blockbuster so far Baahubali 2 that was released on 28 April 2017. Reportedly Amazon Prime has acquired the digital rights of the film at record price of 54 crores.
