The two major releases of Independence Day, Gold & Satyameva Jayate are running strongly at the box office. Both have passed the extended opening week on an excellent note and still ruling despite having two new Hindi films- comedy Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi and action thriller Genius in the opposite.
Superstar Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited Gold has got succeed to hit the target right and received mostly positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience for its solid content and brilliant performances. As a result, it registered the massive business of 89.30 crores in the prolonged week with 71.30 crores on the 5-days weekend and 18 crores on weekdays.
Now Reema Kagti’s directorial is running in the second weekend and still has a good hold over the multiplex audience across the country. On 2nd Friday, with a drop of around 47% than the previous day, it collected 1.75 crores. Then on 2nd Saturday, after a fair growth of 71.43%, Gold minted 3 crores and raised 11 days domestic total to 94.05 crores.
On the other hand, John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate has received mixed reviews from the critics for its ineffective story-line but got succeed to entertain the audience. By remaining steady throughout, it did the business of 75.09 crores in the 9-days extended week that included 56.91 crores of the 5-days weekend and 18.18 crores of weekdays.
Milap Milan Zaveri’s directorial is now running in its second weekend and still has a good hold over the single screens audience. On 2nd Friday, it minted the amount of 1.82 crores after a drop of 54% than the previous day. On the next day i.e. 2nd Saturday, after a jump of 20.88%, SMJ raked 2.20 crores and raised 11 days total collection to 79.11 crores.
