This Friday released two new Hindi films of completely opposite genres Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi & Genius have received a cold welcome from the audience across the country. While the last week’s offerings Gold & Satyameva Jayate are continuing to rule the box office and showing better performance than the newer ones.
Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is the sequel to 2016’s comedy film Happy Bhag Jayegi which was not successful but got succeed to make the audience laugh and also recovered all its investment. The predecessor had Diana Penty in a lead role, but this time, makers have scaled up the franchise by signing Sonakshi Sinha on board.
On the opening day, Eros International & Colour Yellow Productions’ presentation took a slow start with 5-10% of occupancy in the morning. Due to an overall positive response from the public, it picked up decently over the evening & night shows. At the end of the day, it registered the opening business of 2.70 crores, which is slightly higher than the prequel (2.32 crores).
The second film, Genius is directed by Anil Sharma who is known for Sunny Deol starrer Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. This action thriller marks the debut of Sharma’s son Utkarsh but he got failed to make it big, as the film is getting a negative response from the critics as well as the audience in theaters.
On Friday, Soham Rockstar Entertainment’s presentation recorded a dull opening with around 5% of occupancy and the unfavourable feedback led it to remain flat throughout the day. In the end, Genius registered the opening business of only 0.75 crore nett at the domestic box office. Let see how much growth it will take over the weekend.
