Released a day earlier on Thursday, two new Hindi offerings Badhaai Ho & Namaste England will enjoy a 4-days extended weekend with a national holiday on Friday due to Dussehra. As expected, the former one has opened on a good note while the latter has taken a decent start despite higher star power.
Directed by Amit Sharma, the quirky comedy Badhaai Ho has hit the target right and entertained many in theaters. As a result, it has received mostly positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience and gained a solid word of mouth across the country.
On Thursday, Ayushmann Khurrana & Sanya Malhotra starrer started the journey with an occupancy of 30% in the morning and picked up well post noon shows in single as well as multi-screens cinemas. In the end, it has done the business of 7.35 crores at the domestic box office.
On the other hand, Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s directorial Namaste England has got failed to create any magic like Akshay Kumar & Katrina Kaif starrer 2007’s Namastey London and received mixed reviews from critics as well as the audience.
On the first day, Arjun Kapoor & Parineeti Chopra starrer romantic drama opened on a low note with an occupancy of only 10% in the morning and managed to collect the amount of 1.90 crores with no growth over the evening & night shows in multiplexes.
