1st Day Collection of Jab Harry Met Sejal (JHMS), Takes Fourth Highest Opening of 2017

With an almost excellent opening, Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s latest offering Jab Harry Met Sejal raises a hope for the industry. So far in this year, Bollywood has given only few hits while most of the anticipated movies have got failed to perform on a desired note, Salman Khan’s highly awaited Tubelight is one of them.

Although Jab Harry Met Sejal is getting mixed reviews from critics as well as audience, but due to high initial buzz and solid star power it started the journey on an excellent. As per critics both the actors have given good performances, but the weak script and direction pull it back.

On the opening day, Imtiaz Ali’s directorial this romantic drama reported good occupancy of 40% in multiplexes while decent on single screens for morning shows. With the great excitement of fans, the movie has witnessed usual growth over the evening and night shows across the country.

As per the reports, Jab Harry Met Sejal recorded overall occupancy of 45-50% on around 3200 screens in India and garnered the business of 15.25 crores nett. at domestic box office. With this, it has emerged as the seventh highest opener of Shahrukh’s career and fourth highest of the year so far in Hindi Cinema after Baahubali 2 Hindi (41 crores), Tubelight (21.15 crores) and Raees (20.42 crores).

Due to Raksha Bandhan holiday, SRK-Anushka’s this third collaboration is positively expected to remain strong till Monday. But the mixed reviews do not give any hope of steady performance in weekdays and second week, which are crucial and will decide it’s fate.
